Precise measurements make a "DIY" install a breeze

  • Soapstone counters are square or rectangular stones that are placed on your cabinets and then joined at the seams.

  • Now when you see them in that light, you need to know that the stones we mine are a maximum size of 32" x 60", so anything beyond these dimensions need to be seamed.

  • Now divide your counters into the appropriate sections and measure.

  • Here is how I measured this particular kitchen.

  1. 25 1/2" x 52"

  2. 25 1/2" x 32"

  3. 25 1/2" x 44"

  4. 27" x 60"

  5. 27" x 48"

Counter thickness 1 1/4"

  • We'll need to know the location of your sink.

  • Here are the stones cut and placed on the cabinets, waiting to be seamed and finished.

  • Also pay special attention to your overhang. You will want your counter to extend past any under mounted appliance such as the dishwasher.

  • Remember there is no standard - this is your custom counter.

  • And here's the finished product.
  • The counters in this particular kitchen were installed and finished in one day.
  • The tile work and backsplash were done by others.

  • Click on the photo to the right to see the type of drawing we need to process your order or provide you with a quote.
  • This drawing is of the actual countertop area;  providing 1" overhang from the cabinet door.
  • It also shows us the location of the sink, stove and where the walls are.
  • Whether you are installing or we are installing the cost is based on the amount of stone required to create the countertop surface.
